Matthew’s Meals and Miles launched in memory of Tynemouth teenager

A lasting legacy for a much-loved Tynemouth teenager, Matthew Adams, is being launched on the eve of what would have been his 20th birthday to help families facing childhood cancer tackle the rising costs of getting to treatment and putting food on the table.

Meet some of our fantastic runners from the Great North Run 2026 weekend!

Lee Edmondson and his son Jamie, a 14-year-old who has recently finished treatment and is in remission, and Gary Brown, a childhood cancer survivor, have helped to raise essential funds which support children and young people with cancer across the North East and Cumbria by taking on the Great North Run and the Junior Great North Run this past weekend.
