We fund Tom Madge from AnimateCity, our resident animator working on the children’s cancer unit.
Tom works with children to create incredible animated films, providing a brilliant distraction and creative outlet for them.
We support families to make their cancer journey easier.
Children and young people from across the North East and Cumbria travel to the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle for their cancer treatment. Life can be very tough for these children and families, hours of gruelling treatment, worry, isolation and boredom. We aim to make life a little better for them through listening to what they need and want and then providing support.

“My 13 year old son struggled to interact with anyone while on the ward. Each week Tom would come and see him but my son wouldn’t engage. Slowly he became more comfortable and made some fabulous creations with Tom. With Tom’s perseverance and approach he really helped my son to cope with his cancer journey. Thank you.”
“The amount of time they fill with those craft activities is amazing. They are crucial. Little boosts like the end of treatment and birthday gifts make a difference and help them get through it.” Tracy Henderson, Rebecca’s Mum
