Little baker, Amelia, bakes to £112

Three year old Amelia got serious with her spectacular baking skills. After hearing about our 101 Challenge from her aunty, she was determined to take on the challenge and raise some money for the children and young people diagnosed with cancer in our region.

The 101 Challenge

Every year, approximately 101 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in the North East and Cumbria. That’s why we ask our supporters to pledge to raise £101, that’s £1 represented for every child diagnosed in our region.

You can choose whatever challenge you fancy, whether it’s baking 101 cupcakes, running, walking, cycling or swimming 101km or miles. You can set up a JustGiving page through us, and of course we will provide our supporters with any fundraising materials needed to help you along the way.

Amelia takes on the challenge

Amelia got her chef hat on and baked 101 cupcakes and cake slices. These included cupcakes with frosting, chocolate muffins and chocolate slices (also with frosting and sprinkles of course!). Her yummy cakes sales fundraised an impressive £112! Well done to Amelia!

Amelia’s family is very proud!

Amelia’s mum, Laura Charlton said:

“Amelia loves to bake, it is her favourite activity. When her auntie suggested they bake some cakes to raise money for poorly children, Amelia couldn’t wait to get involved. She helped pick the type of cakes to make and also shopped for the ingredients. She and her auntie made dozens of cakes and sold them to friends and family. She is super proud of her achievements as are myself, her dad and the rest of her family. She can’t wait for her next challenge.”

Thank you

Thank you very much to young Amelia and her family for taking on the 101 Challenge. Their fundraising will go on to help make life better for children and young people on the children’s cancer wards at The Great North Children’s Hospital, and help fund vital research at the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre.

If you’ve been inspired and would like to set up your own 101 Challenge, here’s how!
