Here are some hints and tips on making the most of your fundraising. Every penny makes a difference!
Set up a JustGiving page – visit www.justgiving.com to set up your personalised on-line fundraising page.
Ask us to create a personalised text giving code for your fundraising. You can then share this with friends and family for them to donate via a text – their donation simply gets added to their phone bill. We can track your funds raised and let you know how much!
Set yourself a minimum target so that companies and individuals can see how they are helping to achieve it.
Try to make sure your first sponsor pledges a large amount, others tend to follow suit!
Take your sponsorship form with you everywhere you go – and ask everyone you know (and some you don’t!) to sponsor you.
Encourage all eligible sponsors (UK tax payers) to tick the column confirming that they wish to “Gift Aid” their donation and complete their details in full (postcode essential) – this allows us to claim an extra 25% on their donation from the Government without any extra charge to them.
Share, share share! Share your Justgiving page and regular updates through your social media.
If you have an interesting story about why you are raising funds for Children’s Cancer North please share it with us and we can help promote your fundraising to a wider audience via our social media channels.
Insert a ‘signature’ at the bottom of your emails making reference to your JustGiving page so people can follow the link and sponsor you straight away.
Check if your employer operates a Matched Giving scheme to match your donations £ for £.
Consider whether you have access to any free advertising space in which to promote your fundraising e.g. a company newsletter, intranet, website or professional publication.
Organise an event yourself from our A-Z of fundraising ideas.
Keep updating your Justgiving page with photos or messages, it’s a great excuse to re-share the link with everyone.
Tweet us @ChildCancerNth and like our Facebook page and we will help to spread the word about your fundraising activities.
Thank your donors via social media. People really appreciate this and it helps inspire others to do the same, along with letting everyone know how you’re doing.
