Your basket

However you decide to fundraise, every pound that you raise takes us one step closer to making life better for children and young people with cancer in the North East and Cumbria.

We provide support to children and their families going through treatment for cancer, we fund early phase trials and we support research to make treatments less harsh but more effective. Find out more about where your money goes.

When you register online for the Children’s Cancer Run, a fundraising page will automatically be created for you. This is the quickest and easiest way to collect sponsorship, and is live and ready as soon as you sign up! You can easily share your page with friends, family, and colleagues and there is extra steps for you to take as all of the funds come directly to Children’s Cancer North. If you registered offline, or you aren’t sure how to activate your fundraising page, please contact us at ccrun@childrenscancernorth.org.uk for help.

Is there a minimum sponsorship amount?

No, we have no minimum sponsorship pledge, please just raise what you can to support our cause. Children’s Cancer North are grateful for any amount of money that you can raise to make life better for children with cancer. Remember that every penny you raise makes a difference.

Sponsorship form

You can download our paper sponsor form here if you would like to fundraise offline. Don't forget to encourage your supporters to say yes to Gift Aid if they are eligible and help make their donation go further!

Why fundraise?

Childhood cancer remains a leading cause of non-accidental death among children in the UK. Your fundraising will help more children like Rebecca live a better life with and after cancer. Read Rebecca’s story here.

Some top tips:

  • Make it personal: Customising your online fundraising page by adding photos and videos can really boost your sponsorship. Sharing a personal message about why you’re supporting our cause can help to show your supporters how much their donations mean to you. You could also keep your supporters updated by sharing posts about how your fundraising is going, what activities you’re planning, or if they’ve helped you hit any milestone goals towards your fundraising target.
  • Share it far and wide: Share your page online with your contacts on social media, in WhatsApp groups, or via email. You could also ask them to share it with their networks too, or is there somewhere you can promote your fundraising through a club you attend or at work? Sharing your fundraising page not only invites more people to donate, but it also helps to increase awareness of our cause to a wider audience.
  • Check if you can double your impact: Lots of employers will match-fund charity donations raised by an employee, so it’s worth seeing if yours is one of them and make your fundraising go twice as far. Don’t forget to encourage supporters to say yes to Gift Aid if they are an eligible UK taxpayer, and we can claim an extra donation back from the government on their behalf.
  • Get creative: There are lots of ways to raise money that you can contribute to your sponsorship for the run. Why not hold a bake sale or a clothes swap sale with your friends and ask them to make a donation to join in? We have loads of ideas to help you on the way – find out more here (scroll to the bottom of the page for the A-Z of fundraising tips).

Awareness

Thanks to all those who take part and help us promote the event, the Children’s Cancer Run highlights the prevalence of childhood cancer within our communities to thousands of people and increases support of our cause each year.

almost £9m

The Children’s Cancer Run has raised almost £9 million since it began over 40 years ago. This money has helped fund vital research into developing kinder treatments and cures for childhood cancer, which is carried out right here in Newcastle. Your donations have also allowed us to help hundreds of local families affected by childhood cancer through our range of financial support and funded activities, to help make their lives a little better through treatment and beyond.
