Family Breaks

We currently have no more availability for Center Parcs breaks in 2026. However, if you are interested, please email us at familybreaks@childrenscancernorth.org.uk and we will inform you of any cancellations and when applications re-open in 2027.

Something we think is really important at Children’s Cancer North is creating positive, enjoyable experiences for children, young people, and their families, going through cancer treatment.

It can be an incredibly difficult and stressful time for everyone, so giving families the opportunity to make happy memories together is a really important part of their cancer journey.

Thanks to the kindness of everyone who fundraises for us, we are now able to offer families with a child in treatment the chance to go to Center Parcs. These breaks are a chance for families to relax, unwind, and spend time together in a location that feels a million miles from wards 4 and 14 at the Great North Children’s Hospital.

Key Information:

  • 4-night midweek break or 3-night weekend break
  • Available in Spring/Autumn
  • Center Parcs in Whinfell, Cumbria
  • Accommodation only
  • Applications are subject to review and medical approval must be provided by your child’s consultant

Applications opened on Tuesday 6th January 2026 and will close when availability runs out and one break per family can be granted. If Children’s Cancer North have funded a Center Parcs break for your family previously, you will not be eligible to attend again this year, as we’re using the funds for families who haven’t yet been on a break.

We regret we cannot provide transportation to Whinfell and the holidays are on an accommodation only basis.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

Those eligible for this year are children (up to and including 18 years old) and their families who:

  • Are currently undergoing treatment for cancer or bone marrow transplant at the Great North Children’s Hospital (Newcastle upon Tyne)
  • Have completed treatment within the last 12 months for cancer or bone marrow transplant at the Great North Children’s Hospital (Newcastle upon Tyne)
  • Have not been on a CCN funded Center Parcs family break before

Please note, once you apply we will need to speak to your child’s consultant to acquire their medical approval for your trip.
